A week after the Netflix docuseries on JonBenét Ramsey's unsolved death aired, police said they were still searching for her killer but didn't have any leads, according to The New York Post.

A Boulder Police Department spokeswoman said, “It’s obvious that the Boulder Police Department wants to solve this case and the only reason is to bring justice to the victim,” according to an email to reporters.

Nearly 30 years ago, JonBenét Ramsey, 6, was found beaten and strangled in her family's Boulder basement.

The Netflix Series

A three-part Netflix documentary, "Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey," has revived interest in the 1996 murder of the young beauty pageant queen, which captivated the public and garnered cable news coverage and global attention.

Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn said in a video statement last week that he and everyone else who has worked on JonBenét's case “would love nothing more than to bring justice to her memory.” The police spokeswoman declined to answer NBC News' questions about tips authorities were investigating.

The Netflix series transports viewers to the morning after Christmas 28 years ago, when JonBenét's mother called 911 to report finding a rambling ransom note and her daughter gone.

JonBenét's father found the girl's body that afternoon and moved her upstairs, ruining the crime scene and drawing immediate criticism of the Boulder police department's handling of the case.

From Police

In a video published by the Boulder police department on Tuesday, Redfearn acknowledged that there had been areas for improvement over the years.

“However, it is important to emphasize that while we cannot go back to that horrible day in 1996, our goal is to find JonBenét Ramsey’s killer," Redfearn said.

JonBenét's killer remains unidentified. After years of suspicion, prosecutors wrote to her parents and brother in 2008 to apologize and clarify that they were not suspects.

The Netflix docuseries highlights her father's hope that fresh DNA testing will solve the case but does not name a suspect. Jon Benét's mother, Patsy, died of cancer at 49 in 2006.

From Her Family

“I believe it can be solved if the police accept help from outside their system,” John Ramsey stated on TODAY last month before the docuseries released. “That’s the flaw for 25 years.”

Boulder police claimed they acted on all tips and did not work in silos.

“The assertion that there is viable evidence and leads we are not pursuing — to include DNA testing — is completely false,” it stated on X last week.
