Poll: Majority says accurate reporting of Hunter Biden laptop story would have changed 2020 election outcome

A new poll indicates that the overwhelming majority of Americans believe that, had the Hunter Biden laptop story not been censored, the outcome of the 2020 presidential election would have been different.

The poll was conducted by TIPP Insights.

The findings

There are several. But, perhaps the most important one is this:

[A] wide margin of respondents — 71 percent — said a truthful interpretation of the Hunter Biden laptop issue could have swung the November 3 election, which saw [President Joe] Biden defeat incumbent Donald Trump by 51.3-46.9 percent of the popular vote.

The pollster found that roughly half of the poll's participants indicated that they would have voted differently if they had known that the New York Post's bombshell Hunter Biden laptop report was authentic.

That is a big percentage.

"Interestingly, Republican and Democratic voters were more or less aligned on this question," TIPP reports.

Additionally, over two-thirds of participants, according to TIPP, "said that the FBI and the intelligence community deliberately misled the public by urging Facebook and Twitter to stop spreading such stories, which the agency deemed foreign 'disinformation'."

The Twitter Files

This poll comes after Elon Musk, Twitter's new owner, released the "Twitter Files," that is, internal communications revealing what was going on behind the scenes when Twitter decided to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story just before the 2020 presidential election.

One Twitter File reveals, “the decision was made at the highest levels of the company, but without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey, with former head of legal, policy, and trust Vijaya Gadde playing a key role.”

The very next Twitter File quotes an unidentified employee as explaining, “They just freelanced it. Hacking was the excuse, but within a few hours, pretty much everyone realized that wasn’t going to hold. But, no one had the guts to reverse it.”

Other Twitter Files have revealed that Twitter was "overwhelmingly" aligned with the political left, that the political left - including the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Biden's 2020 team - asked Twitter to censor various things, and that Twitter's former executives routinely held meetings with government agencies.

One thing that remains unclear, however, is whether Twitter acted under the direction of these government agencies, particularly with the regard to the censoring of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

Trump would be president

Former President Trump, among many others, has argued that Big Tech and the mainstream media's censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story is election interference. And, at this point, it is hard to deny this.

The question that this raises is, if this was election interference, then was the election actually stolen from Trump? TIPP's poll suggests that many believe that the answer is yes.
