President-elect Trump selects Gail Slater to head up DOJ's antitrust division
President Donald Trump's list of rock star hires continues to deepen as he taps from talent pools across the spectrum to lead his administration.
According to the New York Post, the president-elect just announced his selection of Gail Slater to lead the Department of Justice’s antitrust division, which will involve taking on a growing docket of antitrust-related cases involving some of the biggest corporations out there.
Slater, an antitrust veteran and economic adviser for JD Vance, will also reportedly crack down on Big Tech and resume cases that were brought to Trump's DOJ under his first term as president.
Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post. It was celebrated by his supporters, as Slater is known as a no-nonsense attorney who isn't afraid of the big dogs.
What did he say?
Trump praised Slater for her grit and determination to tackle Big Tech in his statement.
Big Tech has run wild for years, stifling competition in our most innovative sector and, as we all know, using its market power to crack down on the rights of so many Americans, as well as those of Little Tech!" Trump wrote.
He added, "I was proud to fight these abuses in my First Term, and our Department of Justice’s antitrust team will continue that work under Gail’s leadership."

"In her new role, Gail will help ensure that our competition laws are enforced, both vigorously and FAIRLY, with clear rules that facilitate, rather than stifle, the ingenuity of our greatest companies," Trump wrote. "Congratulations Gail – Together, we will Make America Competitive Again!"
The Hill noted:
She previously served as an attorney at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and on the White House National Economic Council during Trump’s first term.
