New Orleans was marred by tragedy last month when ISIS-inspired terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar murdered 14 people on New Year's Eve.

This weekend saw President Donald Trump hit back against the organization by pulling the trigger on an airstrike in Somalia.

Trump to ISIS: "We will find you, and we will killed you"

According to Fox News, Trump announced the military action on Saturday and explained that a senior ISIS figure and his associates had been killed.

"These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies," the president was quoted as stating on social media.

"Our Military has targeted this ISIS attack planner for years, but Biden and his cronies wouldn’t act quickly enough to get the job done. I did!" Trump continued.

"The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!’" the president went on to declare.

Secretary of Defense: "Multiple operatives were killed"

Fox News noted that newly confirmed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was quick to weigh in with a statement of his own.

"I authorized U.S. Africa Command to conduct coordinated airstrikes today targeting ISIS-Somalia operatives in the Golis mountains," Hegseth explained.

"Our initial assessment is that multiple operatives were killed in the airstrikes and no civilians were harmed," the defense secretary asserted.

Hegseth said that the "action further degrades ISIS's ability to plot and conduct terrorist attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians."

Somalia official expresses support for strike

As he drew to a close, the defense secretary further maintained that Saturday's bombing "sends a clear signal" showing how "the United States always stands ready to find and eliminate terrorists who threaten the United States and our allies, even as we conduct robust border-protection and many other operations under President Trump's leadership."

Meanwhile, Fox News cited an official within the president of Somalia's office who confirmed that the airstrike had taken place.

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, indicated that Somalia's government approved of the move, acknowledging that the count "cannot be a safe haven for terrorists."
