Kai Trump turned heads last summer when she delivered a well-received speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee.

Ms. Trump was recently back in the news after making an announcement that is sure to leave her grandfather beaming.

President's granddaughter makes her LPGA debut

According to the New York Post, Kai revealed in a social media post late last month that she would make her LPGA debut this week.

"I will be making my LPGA Tour debut in November at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican! See you November 10-16 - at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, FL," she wrote.

The Post reported on Wednesday that Kai got some advice from golfing legend Tiger Woods, who is dating her mother, Vanessa Trump.

"I mean, he is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And even better person," Kai was quoted as saying. "He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens."

Kai also received encouragement from World Golf Hall of Fame member Annika Sorenstam, who invited her to participate in this week's tournament.

"I just don’t know how she does it, honestly," Sorenstam told the Post. "To be (18) years old and hear all the comments, she must be super tough on the inside.

"I’m sure we can all relate what it’s like to get criticism here and there, but she gets it a thousand times. So that’s why I just want to give her a break, come out here and have fun," Sorenstam stressed.

"We want her to feel like family here and I want her to feel welcome. I mean, give this girl a chance, right? I think that’s our responsibility this week," the golf veteran added.

Kai struggles during first round

The Post reported that Kai initially struggled after teeing off during the first round at the Pelican Golf Club on Thursday morning.

The 18-year-old high school senior hit a pair of bogeys and a double bogey on her first three holes before making par on the par-4 fourth.

However, she managed to make a comeback on the seventh hole with a birdie before following up with another double bogey on the par-3 ninth.
