An insider just revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton are "going through hell" following her cancer diagnosis.

The insider is Amaia Arrieta, whom the Telegraph describes as "The Waleses' go-to designer." She, specifically, has been clothing William and Kate's children, ever since Prince George was a baby.

Arrieta told the outlet, "I’m heartbroken at the moment, I think they are going through hell, I hope they will be back. It’s really personal."

The designer did not elaborate.

What's going on?

It was in March that Middleton revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

"In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present," she said.

Middleton went on to say that she has been undergoing "preventative chemotherapy," and she further elaborated on the difficulty that this situation has presented for her family.

"This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," she said.

Middleton added, "As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok."

William's update

Just recently, Prince William provided a rare update on the situation.

Time magazine reports:

The Prince of Wales gave the rare update during a series of royal engagements on Tuesday, including a visit to the newly-opened Newcastle branch of James' Place, a charity therapy centre for men struggling with suicidal ideation in the North of England.

While there, one individual asked William, "Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?" The prince replied, "All doing well, thank you. Yes, we’re doing well."

This is quite a different statement from the one provided by Arrieta, in which she said that William and Kate are "going through hell." But, then again, it would be highly unusual for a member of the Royal Family like Prince William to say such a thing.

At the end of the day, there are still a lot of unknowns about Middleton's situation, and this is because this is how she and William want it. We ought to respect their wishes.
