Pop star Taylor Swift recently made headlines for her splashy engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce, but now, her name has been in the news for a rather more serious reason.

As the Daily Mail reports, a disturbing incident unfolded at Kelce’s Kansas home when a process server was arrested while attempting to deliver legal documents to Swift stemming from the long-running court battle between her former friend, actress Blake Lively, and filmmaker Justin Baldoni.

Arrest unfolds in Kansas

The bizarre developments took place on Sept. 15 at Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas, mansion, where a process server named Justin Lee Fisher was taken into police custody.

Fisher, said to be a former law enforcement officer, was charged, according to court records, with “jumping the fence onto a private residence in a private neighborhood.”

The incident unfolded just two days after the judge presiding over the Lively-Baldoni dispute denied a request to conduct a deposition with Swift, who has sought to distance herself from the litigation.

Speaking after he was released from custody, Fisher declared, “[I] wasn’t hurt or anything besides being arrested for doing my job and possibly losing my license.”

Fisher’s next contact with the judicial system is set for Oct. 15 in Leawood Municipal Court.

Baldoni's request denied

Underlying the process server’s presence at Kelce’s home was a court filing from Baldoni’s legal team claiming that Swift had agreed to be deposed in his battle with Lively, noting Oct. 20-25 as the window of time the singer’s representatives said she could be available, as Deadline explained.

Swift, for her part, contended that she never made any such agreement and had only recently been made aware that she had once again been pulled into the legal drama, according to People.

The pop superstar’s attorneys wrote to the court, stating that she “did not agree” to provide testimony and that she has “no material role” in the dispute at hand.

Even so, they added, “if she is forced into a deposition, we advised…that her schedule would accommodate the time required during the week of October 20 if the parties were able to work out their differences.”

Lively’s lawyers urged the court to reject Baldoni’s move to compel Swift’s deposition, labeling it an “outrageous” tactic driven by “media strategy,” an argument with which Judge Lewis Liman appeared to agree, as he swiftly denied the request for the "Shake it Off" hitmaker’s appearance.

Contentious case drags on

At the heart of the controversy is Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni, filed in late 2024, accusing her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment and retaliation, claims he has vehemently denied.

While it appears that Swift, who has had a public falling out with former friend Lively after having been dragged into evidentiary disputes in the case, can avoid further involvement in the protracted legal mess, Fisher may not be so lucky, with a court date pending and professional consequences looming.
