A protester at a Monday hearing about crime in New York City and the involvement of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in soft-on-crime policies was removed from the hearing after calling Bragg "disgraceful."

The House Judiciary field hearing "Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan" aimed to investigate the so-called "pro-crime," "anti-victim" policies of Bragg.

Bragg, who wasn't present at the hearing, called it a political stunt because he is prosecuting former President Donald Trump for falsifying business records.

"It’s disgraceful what you guys do," the protester said. "You are utterly disgraceful. Ralph Nader, you’re a disgrace to this country. I love you, Jim Jordan!"

Crime victims testify

He was thought to be referring to Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-CA), who is on the Judiciary committee.

Several families of crime victims testified at the hearing about their experiences with New York City's new approach to crime, which doesn't seem to be working.

Democrats on the committee also slammed the hearing, however, with Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) calling it a "MAGA Broadway production."

"The MAGA Republican extremists are not interested in gun violence, or even knife violence," Johnson said. "The Republican witnesses who have used their time to criticize District Attorney Bragg have served as props in a MAGA Broadway production."

Pushback

In response to Johnson's comments, one witness called out, "Please don’t talk down to us witnesses, please."

Madeline Brame, chairwoman of the Victims Rights Reform Council, told the committee, "You work for us. We do not work for you."

Crime victims are getting fed up with non-responses to crimes against them while DAs like Bragg spend all their time going after Trump for a so-called crime that doesn't even hurt anyone, just because they hate him.

It's exhausting that real crimes aren't getting punished like they should be, which encourages people to commit more crimes, while Trump is pursued for exactly the same kind of campaign finance violation that Hillary Clinton also did, and was never prosecuted for at all.

Piling up victims

If Bragg spent just a fraction of the energy he has put into "getting" Trump on putting away actual criminals, they wouldn't be so emboldened and crime might actually start going down in New York.

But Bragg doesn't really care about crime, he's way more interested in prosecuting a former president for the first time ever in history, so the victims will keep piling up.
