At least one member of the British Royal Family, Queen Camilla, is in mourning after someone she held dear passed away.

The Queen paid tribute this week to British actress June Spencer, a star of the long-running BBC drama "The Archers," after she died at the age of 105, Sky News reported.

Meanwhile, separate reports indicate that the Queen, along with King Charles III and Princess Kate, are all dealing with various health issues of their own, though none are believed to be life-threatening at this point in time.

Famous actress dead

According to the BBC, Spencer took on the matriarchal role of Peggy Woolley in 1951 in "The Archers" and was the last of the show's original cast members when she retired in 2022 at the age of 103.

The program's editor, Jeremy Howe, described Spencer as a "legend" and said, "June’s Peggy Woolley was and always will be the Queen of Ambridge, and with her death, The Archers has lost its link with the birth of the show over 70 years ago. It is a humbling moment for us all."

Per Spencer's family, she passed away "peacefully" while sleeping Friday morning and further stated that they wanted to "pay particular tribute and thanks to the staff team at Liberham Lodge, who so lovingly cared for her in the last two years."

A "message of condolence" from the Queen

According to Sky News, Queen Camilla was a big fan of "The Archers" and Spencer in particular, whom she'd hosted along with her co-stars for a special reception in 2021 to mark the 70th anniversary of the BBC series.

In a "message of condolence" posted to social media along with a photo from that reception, the Queen said, "For over 70 years, June Spencer was a much-loved part of so many people's lives, brilliantly combining in Peggy Woolley the roles of reassuring matriarch and 'gangsta granny.'"

"She will be greatly missed and I send my heartfelt condolences to her family," Camilla added.

Camilla recovering from a chest infection

Hopefully, the British Royal Family can avoid having to offer up any further messages of condolence, especially for one of their own, as 2024 has been a tough year for them in terms of the various health issues that some of them have endured, according to the Independent.

Queen Camilla was forced to miss the annual Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, as well as the more formal Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday, because of a chest infection she had fallen ill with.

The infection is not believed to be severe but the Queen decided it would be better for her to stay away from the celebrations to avoid the possibility of passing it along to anybody else.

A "brutal" year health-wise for the Royal Family

That is a legitimate concern, as two close members of the Royal Family, King Charles and Princess Kate, are both recovering from cancer treatments that could have left them susceptible to other infections that might potentially overwhelm their weakened immune systems.

Speaking to reporters at Saturday's festival, Prince William was asked how his year has been and replied, "Honestly? It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life." The heir to the British monarchy added, "I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal."
