Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman has gotten attention in recent months for breaking with many in his party on the border and support for Israel. However, questions were recently raised over why his wife left social media.

According to the Daily Caller, Gisele Fetterman stopped using X and other platforms after her husband started being attacked by progressives.

Spokesperson says Mrs. Fetterman was "was getting bored" with social media

The website noted that Mrs. Fetterman's X and Instagram accounts were both deactivated and no posts have been made since December.

Those moves following an X post put up a month and a half ago in which she complained of being attacked due to her husband.

That was confirmed by a spokesperson for Mrs. Fetterman, who told the Daily Caller that "she would be taking a break from social media."

The spokesperson added that Mrs. Fetterman "was getting bored with it, it wasn’t adding anything to her life, and she prefers to run into fires instead."

Friend says senator's wife dropped from public view due to bullying

A similar message was put forward in December by Ashlyn Brierre Preaux, a progressive activist who is also a friend of Mrs. Fetterman.

"Gisele Fetterman (can’t tag her because some of y'all bullied her so much she had to take a social media break — she is not her husband so please be gentle with your critiques.)," Brierre Preaux wrote on Instagram.

The Daily Caller noted that after the website initially published its article about her, Mrs. Fetterman quickly put up a post on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

"I posted several months ago that i would be talking a break from social media. I was bored with it … i am a Pisces," she declared.

Mrs. Fetterman slams critics for being "terrible"

Mrs. Fetterman explained that social media use "wasn’t adding anything to my life" but adding that withdrawing has been "somehow more exhausting than having it."

The lawmaker's wife followed those words up with another post in which she complained that her critics "really are terrible, respectfully."

The Daily Caller pointed out that Mrs. Fetterman's decision to maintain a low profile stands in sharp contrast with the prominent role she played in her husband's 2022 Senate campaign.
