Just a day after headlining a swanky, star-studded Democratic National Committee fundraiser for President Joe Biden, one celebrity called it quits on her career.

According to MyFox8, rapper and singer Lizzo stunned her fans on social media after the event, announcing, at least informally, that she's quitting the music business.

The rapper seemed to indicate that negative posts about her and a steady stream of mockery played into her decision to quit her line of work.

Notably, the announcement also comes in the wake of accusations of sexual harassment and discrimination alleged by several of her former backup dancers.

What did she say?

Lizzo took to Instagram to make the announcement and offered some context as to how she arrived at the decision.

"I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet," the 'Good as Hell' singer wrote on Instagram. "All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it."

In dramatic fashion, she went on to drop the announcement that she's no longer interested in the entertainment business.

"Being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look … My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this s—,” she wrote. “I QUIT.”

Ironically, in the wake of her announcement, Lizzo was once again dragged on social media for her antics. It's unclear if she's actually quitting her lucrative career or not.\

Nasty allegations

She might be ducking out of the business in the fallout from accusations leveled against her for some of the same reasons she claims she's quitting.

Several backup dancers made the accusations.

The outlet noted:

The women allege Lizzo forced them to attend sex shows and eat a banana protruding from a woman’s vagina, among other allegations. Last month, a judge denied Lizzo’s request to toss the lawsuit, allowing the majority of the case to proceed to trial later this year.

Only time will tell what her next move is.
