Podcaster Adam Grandmaison (aka Adam22) posted a snapshot of the two of them to Instagram Story after hearing of Quan's passing.
Rapper Boosie BadAzz also spoke to the death by sharing a message on X. “JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA 😓 #tipQUAN Never go forget yo smile n the way talked n of course yo music 💯,” he penned.
The rapper's purported friend also offered a potential cause of death, saying that Quan's untimely passing was due to an overdose. However, his official cause of death has not been revealed.
Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was born in Atlanta and struggled with substance abuse, including being charged with felony drug possession with the intent to distribute in 2017.
Singer's Career
The year 2013 marked the beginning of Quan's career with the release of "Some Type of Way," which climbed all the way up to position 57 on the Billboard Hot list.
“It happened so fast, but I’m very thankful,” he told Billboard in September 2013. “It’s making me more focused and showing me that people are really paying attention.”
For him, the song "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" from 2015 was his most successful single, reaching its highest position on the Billboard Charts at number 26.
The singer has met his end during a time when the music industry is plagued by scandal and drug abuse. Quan's death is a reminder that, in the words of another rapper, sometimes success just brings "Mo Money [and] Mo Problems."
