Raskin reveals name of lead attorney in Biden's FBI bribery scheme investigation

House Oversight Committee member Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the ranking Democrat on the committee, just revealed the name of the lead investigator in a case involving Joe Biden's alleged bribery scheme.

According to the Washington Examiner, Raskin, in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, demanded that information related to a June 5 briefing, be provided to the entire House Oversight Committee, calling the information "crucial context."

The request comes after Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), along with Raskin, were briefed on the FBI's FD-1023 form which allegedly details a bribery scheme carried out by then-Vice President Joe Biden and a Ukrainian oligarch.

Raskin and other Democrats have argued there's nothing to the situation, and that the investigation had been previously closed by the FBI. Others say that's simply not true.

Raskin's letter

The letter named the lead attorney assigned to the investigation.

"In January 2020, then-Attorney General William Barr selected Scott Brady, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, to review allegations made by lawyer and politician Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani had alleged that then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden were involved in a corruption scheme involving Ukrainian energy company Burisma," Raskin's letter said.

"The investigation was closed after eight months. No outstanding investigative tasks remained. The FBI said that Brady’s investigation turned up insufficient evidence to warrant furthering the investigation. Brady and high-level Justice Department officials agreed with the move," Raskin's letter pointed out.

The ranking Democrat inferred that Comer's recent public statements regarding the case are "inconsistent" with the June 5 briefing information.

"It is deeply concerning that recent public statements are plainly inconsistent with statements made by the FBI in the June 5, 2023, briefing," Raskin said.

Comer strikes back

The Oversight chairman fired back at Raskin's insistence that it's a Republican nothing-burger.

"It doesn’t matter how many times Ranking Member Raskin repeats the lie, it’s still a lie," Comer reportedly said.

"The Biden bribery record contains serious allegations, and the American people deserve answers, transparency, and accountability," Comer said. "The Oversight Committee will continue to follow the facts and ensure accountability for the American people. Democrats’ lies and deterrents will not distract us from this goal."

Comer said the information came via a "highly credible" and highly-paid FBI informant. If even half of what has been claimed is true, Biden and his family business partners, including his son, are in boiling hot legal water.
