Reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley made headlines in 2022 when they were sentenced to prison after being convicted on bank fraud and tax evasion charges.

However, the couple were recently seen thanking God and President Donald Trump for granting them a pardon.

Pair learned of their pardons while in prison

According to Fox News, Mr. and Mrs. Chrisley expressed voiced words of gratitude during an appearance this past Saturday on "My View with Lara Trump."

Mrs. Chrisley described being told of having been granted a pardon while incarcerated, stating, "It was the craziest thing and everybody was just looking at me because unfortunately, most of the news that you get in prison is bad news."

"You know, so they're like, are you OK? I'm like, I am. I'm getting out of here. I'm getting out of here," she went on to declare.

Mr. Chrisley also gave an account of how a prison guard came by to inform him that the president had decided to grant a pardon.

Todd Chrisley: "God touched President Trump's heart"

"He came by, and he goes, 'Are you good?' And I said, as good as I can be. And he said, Todd, you just got pardoned," Mr. Chrisley said.

"They sent me down here to make sure you're OK. And I said, well, they don't need to be worrying about me now. Hell, if I'm pardoned, I'm great," Chrisley recalled.

"We owe thanks to God. And I say - and God touched President Trump's heart. God led the people to advocate for us," he declared.

"And so, I'm grateful because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children. And he did that, so I'm grateful," the reality television star explained.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Chrisley spoke of the couple's plan for a new docuseries on Lifetime, saying, "We’re going to set the record straight, and now we move forward with our lives."

Couple's daughter says her parents were targeted for political reasons

Fox News recalled how the Chrisleys conviction was heralded at the time by James Dorsey, who served as special agent in charge of the IRS Criminal Investigation’s Atlanta Field Office.

"This sentencing serves notice that no matter a person’s celebrity status, there are severe consequences for defrauding the American tax system," he was quoted as saying in a statement.

However, the couple's daughter, Savannah Chrisley, maintained that her parents had been politically targeted by the Biden Department of Justice due to their support of President Trump.
