Many Americans spent much of Thursday waiting for news that the Department of Justice had released new material connected with deceased financial mogul and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Yet it isn't just information about Epstein that is raising eyebrows, as Republicans also want access to documents concerning Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and President John F. Kennedy as well.

Florida congresswoman seeks answers from attorney general

According to Fox News, much of the pressure is coming from Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina, who addressed the matter in a social media post on Tuesday.

"On Feb 11 [and] Feb 19, House Oversight sent a letter to the DOJ asking for status on releasing the Epstein files as well as JFK etc," Luna wrote.

"The DOJ has not responded. Reaching out on X because we can’t seem to get a response from the AG," she continued. "[Attorney General Pam Bondi] what is the status of the documents? These documents were ordered to be declassified."

Trump signed an executive order on declassification

Fox News noted how Luna is in charge of the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.

The committee was created following an executive order from President Donald Trump which called for declassification of assassination-related material along with facts relating to UFOs and the COVID-19 virus.

Fox News reported that the Department of Justice responded to Luna's inquiry on Wednesday with a letter from Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Patrick D. Davis.

"The Department remains committed to meeting its legal recordkeeping obligations as it pursues that mission," Davis wrote.

Bondi demands that FBI turn over "thousands" of missing documents

"We are reviewing your requests and look forward to engaging further to accommodate your oversight and legislative needs," the principal deputy assistant attorney general stressed.

Meanwhile, the New York Post reported on Thursday the FBI office in New York  has withheld "thousands of pages" from Epstein's files.

Bondi raised the issue in a letter sent to FBI Director Kash Patel and demanded that all such documents be surrendered to her office by Friday morning.
