U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, says that he has filed with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) new criminal referrals for members of the Biden family.

The Washington Examiner reports that Comer announced the filing during an appearance on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

Take a look:

The referrals

It appears that the criminal referals are for Hunter Biden, former president Joe Biden's son, and James Biden, the brother of Joe Biden.

The Examiner reports that the referrals are "regarding the 'provably false statements' the Biden family members made to both the Oversight and Judiciary Committees last year." But, it appears that there may be some additional charges in the near future.

Breitbart News reports:

The head of a pro-American energy watchdog group says his investigation into several of former President Joe Biden’s climate-related executive actions uncovered “criminal” and “evil” evidence that members of the White House acted without presidential authorization while he was in mental decline.

House Republicans are also investigating the situation.

Comer believes there is a good possibility that, at the very least, courts, at some point, may throw some of the orders signed by the Biden autopen out. This could have a huge impact on things.

"Holding people accountable"

Comer, during his Fox appearance, said that this is all part of an attempt to hold people accountable.

He said:

When it comes to holding people accountable, then that’s going to have to be the Department of Justice. Our criminal referrals to the Department of Justice have a 5-year statute of limitations. So, they’re good throughout the entire Trump administration. We’re hopeful that Pam Bondi will set an example out of people who have lied before Congress, like Jim Biden and like Hunter Biden.

Now, this is not the first time that Comer has made this criminal referral. He also did so during the Biden administration.

At the time, however, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was in the hands of then-Attorney General Merrick Garland, who chose not to act on those referrals.

Comer believes that things could be different this time around, now that the DOJ is being run by Attorney General Pam Bondi. We'll see.
