Rep. Comer says House has enough votes to move Biden's impeachment inquiry forward

President Joe Biden and the White House might think they can squirm their way out of an impeachment inquiry, but according to the latest reports, it's happening.

According to The Daily Wire, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said over the weekend that he believes the Republican-led House has the votes required to formalize an impeachment inquiry against the 46th president.

In recent weeks, several media reports suggested that Republicans would have a difficult time mustering the required votes to make it happen.

Comer, in a Fox News interview, said "one thing" had "changed" in the wake of those reports that gives him full confidence in the process moving forward.

What happened?

Though a small group of moderate Republicans seemingly threatened the possibility of the impeachment inquiry moving forward, Comer explained that the Thanksgiving holiday break brought those moderates new perspective.

"A great thing happened during Thanksgiving," Comer said during his interview on Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures."

He added, "The members went home, many of them for the first time and circulated for the first time in over ten weeks, and they met people in Walmart and people on Main Street."

"So we are unified at a time when I think it’s no secret our conference is broken in a lot of ways. The members have heard from their constituents back home," the Chairman said.

Comer continued, "They have confidence in the credibility of our investigation and the mountains of evidence that we have accumulated. So I’m confident we’re going to have the votes to move forward with this impeachment inquiry."

Social media reacts

Comer's statement received mixed reaction across social media, with the usual Biden supporters claiming that there's "nothing" to impeach him for. Others applauded the idea, but remain skeptical until it actually happens.

"I will believe it when it actually happens," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Omg they are going to inquire forever but never do anything."

Only time will tell if the impeachment inquiry against Biden goes to the next level, but one doesn't have to be a political analyst to know that based on the precedent set by Democrats and their impeachments of Donald Trump, formally arguing a possible impeachment of Biden is only fair.
