Rep. Rashida Tlaib furious over Biden admin celebrating anniversary of Geneva Conventions
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), one of the remaining members of the crumbling, radically progressive "Squad" in Congress, was furious at the Biden administration this week.
According to Fox News, Tlaib, one of the Biden administration's most outspoken critics on its Israel policy, simply couldn't believe that Biden's State Department would celebrate the anniversary of the Geneva Conventions.
Tuesday marked the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, which is "a set of four peace treaties affirming standards for the treatment of civilians, prisoners of war and other noncombatants."
Tlaib slammed the Biden administration on her X account over a post made by Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
What did she say?
On Tuesday, Blinken wrote, "Today we commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions of 1949. The United States reaffirms our steadfast commitment to respecting international humanitarian law and mitigating suffering in armed conflict. We call on others to do the same."
Tlaib, a rabid anti-Israel politician who has continually berated the Biden administration for its stance on Israel's counterattack on Hamas terrorists, held nothing back in her response.
"Is this a joke?" her first post read, in which she shared Blinken's statement on the anniversary.
"You supported sending more U.S.-made bombs being used to commit war crimes. The government of Israel bombed hospitals, schools, and tents full of displaced Palestinians. How can you say you are for respecting international human rights laws?" she continued in a follow-up post.
Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American member of Congress and has repeatedly broke ranks with many in the Democratic Party over its overall support of Israel.
Her comments came in the wake of a growing threat of a large-scale attack on Israel led by Iran in retaliation of the killing of one of its top commanders.
Social media reacts
Some of her radical supporters backed her in her criticism of the Biden administration, and others slammed her for essentially being on the same side as the Hamas terrorists.
"Our representative for Hamas hard at work propagandizing again," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "With people like you in power, this country will end up just like that."
Fox News noted: Twenty-two House Democrats voted with Republicans to censure Tlaib for her comments on Israel on Nov. 7 last year, a month after the attack.
