Rep. Waters claims Harris was determined to replace Biden
According to U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), it is neither a "mistake" nor a "mishap" that Vice President Kamala Harris is going to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential nominee.
Waters said as much, according to Mediaite, on Friday, during an interview on The Beat with Ari Melber.
It is likely that you, the reader, are familiar with Waters. She is the far-left lawmaker from California who has become infamous for some of the radical points of view she has taken, including that her supporters ought to get in the face of Trump supporters whenever possible.
She said:
[I]f you see anybody from that [Trump] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.
No "mistake," no "mishap"
During her appearance on The Beat, Waters seemed to suggest that Harris has essentially been waiting to replace Biden.
"What have you learned working with her, about her?" Melber asked.
Waters replied:
Determination. She understood that she wanted a career that would take her where she wanted to go. And so from the time that she’s become a lawyer, the attorney general, the state, United States Senate, the vice presidency. It’s not a mistake or a mishap. It is because this is what she’s wanted. And this is, she was determined, would happen. Didn’t know exactly how it would happen, but she knew she’d be ready.
If true, then this would seem to confirm what many have been saying ever since Harris was chosen to be Biden's running mate.
This, however, is usually the quiet part that Harris and the Democrats do not say out loud.
Biding her time?
Many political commentators are suggesting that it is just a bit too coincidental the way this whole situation - with Biden withdrawing from the election and Harris taking over - has played out.
One of the big questions, for example, is to what extent Harris knew about Biden's failing health. Another question is to what extent she covered it up.
The latest reports indicate that Harris has met with Biden on at least 80 documented occasions that took place over the past year.
If you have been following the news, then you are probably aware of the fact that everyone who has met with Biden in recent times - including members of the U.S. government and members of foreign governments - has all said that they recognized a significant deterioration in Biden's health.
This raises the question of how they, with fewer interactions with Biden, noticed the deterioration but Harris did not. Could it be that Harris did know and that she was just waiting to take Biden's position? We'll leave that for you to decide.
