Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is known for her animosity towards President Donald Trump, even going so far as to once tear up his State of the Union speech.

However, a new report suggests that the president's longtime enemy could be on her way out of Washington. 

Sources say this will be Pelosi's last term

That's according to NBC News, which asserted on Monday that a number of Pelosi's colleagues expect the 85-year-old Democratic lawmaker to retire.

"I think she’s preparing to exit the stage," a House Democratic leadership aide said of Pelosi, adding that Democrats "will not fully appreciate the time we have spent with her" until she is gone.

An unnamed Democratic House member from California offered a similar perspective, telling the network, "I wish she would stay for 10 more years."

"I think she’s out. She's going to go out with Prop 50 overwhelmingly passing, and what a crowning achievement for her to do that," the member of Congress predicted.

Spokesperson refuses to comment on retirement rumors

Proposition 50 is a California ballot initiative which would allow the state to use a new congressional map that has been redrawn by the state's Democrat-dominated legislature.

The measure has been touted by California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom as a way to offset similar redistricting efforts by Texas Republicans.

Ian Krager serves as a spokesperson for Pelosi, and he refused to comment on whether she will seek another term in office, stating, "Speaker Pelosi is fully focused on her mission to win the Yes on 50 special election in California on Tuesday."

"She urges all Californians to join in that mission on the path to taking back the House for Democrats," Krager went on to stress.

Pelosi has already filed to run again next year

Krager later reiterated that message in a social media post, writing, "Speaker Pelosi is fully focused on her mission to win the Yes on 50 election in CA. Any discussion of her future plans beyond that mission is pure speculation."

Meanwhile, Breitbart noted how in November of 2024, Pelosi filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to run for reelection next year.
