Report: Kamala Harris 'most consequential vice president in modern history'

Fox News has published a report arguing that Vice President Kamala Harris might just be "the most consequential vice president in modern history."

What Fox means by this is that having Harris as his running mate could end up being a huge negative for President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats.

Biden, just last week, announced that he will be seeking a second term as president in 2024. And, Biden has insisted that Harris will once again be his running mate despite the many negatives that Harris has.

Fox, for its report, spoke "to several strategists and politicians," and the consensus seems to be that "Harris' vice presidency could ultimately determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election" - and not in the way Biden and the Democrats want.

A deadly combo

There is no hiding the fact that Harris is unpopular. Real Clear Politics currently puts Harris's average favorability rating at 41% - and she has scored significantly lower on individual polls.

The fact that Harris is unpopular, though, is nothing new. She was unpopular when she ran as a presidential candidate against Biden in 2020, and she has failed, during her time as vice president, to gain any popularity. If anything, Harris's lackluster performance has only made her more unpopular.

One of the reasons that this is problematic for Biden is that he has a number of problems of his own. And, one of his biggest problems, with 2024 in sight, is his old age.

Poll after poll has demonstrated that a majority of Americans think Biden is too old to seek a second term and that a majority of Americans have real concerns about Biden's mental and physical capacity to lead the country.

If Biden can't do the job - as many Americans seem to think - this means that Harris will take over. And, this, in itself, according to the experts Fox spoke with, could be enough to drive Americans away from voting for the Biden-Harris ticket in 2024.

"Does anybody want Harris"

Among those who argue in this manner is Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe.

Boothe said:

Kamala Harris hurts Joe Biden. If anything happens to Biden, does anyone want Harris? She is personally unlikable and inarticulate. She dropped out of the 2020 Democrat primary before Iowa. Her own party didn't want her. She was a diversity, equity, and inclusion hire.

Conservative columnist Kristin Tate was a bit blunter.

Tate said:

Kamala Harris is one of the most unlikable and uninspiring public figures in modern political history. She was selected as Joe Biden's running mate in 2020 to check a box, and will serve the same purpose for the Biden campaign in 2024.

That about sums it up.
