Report: Multiple House Democrats may decide not to run for reelection next year
Four-term New Hampshire Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas announced last week that instead of standing for reelection, he will run to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
A new report suggests that Pappas may not be the only House Democrat to leave next year, something which could well leave the party in shambles.
Pappas pledges to "lead the charge" in confronting Trump
According to the Associated Press, Pappas officially revealed his plans to seek a senate seat in a video posted to social media this past Thursday.
"I’m running for Senate because our economy, our democracy, and our way of life are on the line, and New Hampshire deserves a senator who is grounded in the people, places, and values of this state," he declared.
I’m in.
Today I’m announcing my campaign for U.S. Senate because New Hampshire needs a fighter who gets things done.

"Like Senator Shaheen, I’ll always put New Hampshire first. You can count on me to lead the charge to confront this administration, self-dealing billionaires, and extreme politicians who threaten our future and our ability to get things done for New Hampshire," the lawmaker added.
The Associated Press described Pappas as "the most likely Democrat to succeed Shaheen" and speculated that he could end up squaring off against New Hampshire Republican Gov., who is considering a senate run of his own.
Five other Democratic House members could be leaving
Meanwhile, Breitbart noted how Pappas may be just one of half a dozen Democratic lawmakers who are preparing to run for statewide office.
Another potential loss is Maine Rep. Jared Golden, who represents his state's hotly contested 2nd Congressional District and is rumored to be eyeing his state's gubernatorial race.
Also in doubt is the future of four-term Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig, who indicated in February that she may also run for a Senate seat.
"I’ll be talking to Minnesotans in the weeks ahead about the best way to continue to serve my community and will make a decision in the near future," Fox 9 quoted her as saying.
NRCC spokesperson says Democrats are "fleeing a sinking ship"
Other Democratic House members who might be leaving their seats are Michigan Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet, Ohio Rep. Greg Landsman, and New Hampshire Rep. Maggie Goodlander.
"House Democrats are scurrying away from competitive districts like rats fleeing a sinking ship," National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesperson Ben Petersen told Breitbart News.
"Democrats’ abandonment of these seats leaves Hakeem Jeffries with a skeleton crew and hands Republicans an open path to flip crucial swing districts without facing entrenched incumbents," he added.
