Report: Trump DOJ investigating Soros-linked organization for ties to domestic terror
For decades, conservatives have alleged that far-left billionaire George Soros has funded subversive activities through his Open Society Foundations.
Those allegations have led the Trump administration to make a bombshell move opening an investigation into the nonprofit entity.
Probe underway
As the New York Post reported, that assertion was laid out in an article published by The New York Times on Thursday.
The Times maintained that it recently received a copy of a directive that was sent out by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche's office.

The document purportedly instructs United States attorneys to look at whether they can bring criminal charges against groups that have been financially connected to Soros' foundation.
The potential charges are said to include arson, wire fraud, racketeering, as well as providing material support for acts of domestic terrorism.
Schmitt welcomes investigation
The Post noted that when questioned on Thursday, DOJ spokesman Chad Gilmartin would neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of the Times' report.
Nevertheless, he said in a statement that the DOJ "will always prioritize public safety and investigate organizations that conspire to commit acts of violence or other federal violations of law."
Meanwhile, news that the DOJ has decided to examine Soros' organization was met positively by Missouri Republican Sen. Eric Schmitt.
Schmitt told the Post he is "glad the DOJ is investigating these shadow networks for potential criminal misconduct and hope it brings those that have funded political violence and riots in violation of our laws to justice."
"For too long, left wing dark money groups like the Open Society Foundation have been funding left wing anarchy and violence across the country," the conservative lawmaker added.
Open Society Foundations responds
For its part, the Open Society Foundations issued a statement on Thursday which insisted that the outfit "unequivocally" condemns terrorism and does not fund it.
"These accusations are politically motivated attacks on civil society, meant to silence speech the administration disagrees with and undermine the First Amendment right to free speech," a spokesperson was quoted as saying.
"Our work in the United States is dedicated to strengthening democracy and upholding constitutional freedoms. We stand by the work we do to improve lives in the United States and across the world," the spokesperson added.
