Reps. Greene, Gosar back on House committee assignments

Now that Democrats no longer have power in the House of Representatives, they'll no longer be able to silence their strongest critics on the opposing side of the aisle.

According to Breitbart, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) will soon be back in their deserved chairs of power after being booted off committee assignments by the Democrats, under former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), in 2021.

The House Republican Steering Committee suggested the committee assignments for the two Republican lawmakers.

Though such recommendations are routinely approved, a full House conference vote will need to take place to approve them.

What did they get?

The two GOP lawmakers scored a couple of attractive committee assignments upon the beginning of the 118th Congress, with Republicans now back in power.

The Steering Committee, Breitbart noted, "selected Greene to sit on the Homeland Security Committee and Oversight Committees, in addition to Gosar being chosen to sit on the House Natural Resources and Oversight Committees, according to multiple reports."

The Oversight Committee will afford the two Republicans the most power, as the committee has repeatedly stated it will open several high-profile investigations into their Democratic counterparts this year on a number of issues.

Greene has stated on multiple occasions that she will move forward with impeaching DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Payback

Upon winning a contentious speakership ballot, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) vowed to have Greene and Gosar reinstated to committees if Republicans won the 2022 midterms.

McCarthy also promised to boot several key House Democrats off of some of the most powerful House committees. Those targeted members include Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Eric Swalwell (D-CA), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

All three stand to lose their committee status until the 2024 election, and only if Democrats were to win back a majority.

With the number of scandals on the Democratic side, and everything else happening as a result of their failures to represent the everyday American, this is gonna be a long two years for many of them.

Let's just hope Republicans utilize their newfound power and not drop the ball.
