Republicans move forward with effort to remove key Democrat from Congress
Republicans are launching an effort to remove Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) from the House after he reportedly pulled a fire alarm to delay a vote on a bill to avoid a government shutdown.
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) produced the resolution that is expected to be introduced on Monday.
Good. He obviously has no business in Congress.

The details
"Bowman’s alleged actions are being investigated by the House Administration Committee and the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) and elicited widespread condemnation from his Republican colleagues," Breitbart News reported.
"Rep. Lisa McClain is drafting a motion to censure Bowman, a serious but less severe step than expulsion. She said Bowman’s alleged action 'is a felony, plain and simple. USCP had to waste resources investigating rather than actually keeping the Capitol safe. The House must hold Rep. Bowman accountable,'" it added.

Bowman's response
“I was rushing to make a vote, I was trying to get through a door. I thought the alarm would open the door,” he said.
“I want to be very clear, this was not me, in any way, trying to delay the vote. It was the exact opposite — I was trying urgently to get to a vote, which I ultimately did," he claimed.

MTG's effort
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) wants to prosecute Bowman with the same law used against Jan. 6 defendants for interfering with Congress.
"I’m calling on the DOJ to prosecute him using the same law they used to prosecute J6 defendants for interfering with an official proceeding," she said.
"The Democrats literally will do anything to shut OUR government down because billions aren’t going to their favorite country: Ukraine," she argued.
Bowman's action will likely become the focus of the House as it returns to session Monday as lawmakers seek to deal with a variety of other major issues facing the nation.
Republicans may turn the congressman's actions into something larger than he expected, threatening his very job as a member of the House.
