Polling data suggests that many Americans are doubtful about whether President Joe Biden has the mental and physical fitness to function as president.

However, similar concerns about Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may arise after it was revealed that the independent candidate once experienced a health emergency.

Parasite consumed part of Kennedy's brain

According to the Daily Mail, Kennedy participated in a deposition a dozen years ago during his divorce from Mary Richardson.

It further noted that The New York Times published transcripts from the deposition which feature the candidate talking about how a parasite once consumed part of his brain.

Kennedy explained that in 2010 his doctors initially believed the dark spot which appeared on his brain scan was a tumor, something which they attributed his memory loss and confusion.

Yet as he was preparing to visit Duke University Medical Center for surgery, Kennedy was contacted by a doctor who worked at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Kennedy jokes that he can "eat 5 more brain worms" and still win a debate

Kennedy recalled how this physician said the brain scan aberration "was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died."

The Daily Mail noted that Kennedy revealed the information about his medical condition to bolster the claim that his earning potential had been reduced.

Meanwhile, the Times asked Kennedy spokeswoman Stefanie Spear whether the story might become an issue with voters. She was quoted as responding, "That is a hilarious suggestion, given the competition."

For his part, the candidate made light things in a social media post, writing, "I offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate." Kennedy later joked that feels "confident of the result even with a six-worm handicap."

Kennedy challenges Trump to debate

Kennedy also made headlines on Tuesday when Fox News reported that he challenged former President Donald Trump to a debate at the Libertarian Party convention.

"It’s perfect neutral territory for you and me to have a debate where you can defend your record for your wavering supporters," he declared.

Fox News noted that both Kennedy and Trump are scheduled to speak at the event, which will take place from May 24 to May 25 in Washington, D.C.
