Rick Scott gains support in his question to become Senate majority leader

Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott announced late last week that he is running to replace Kentucky Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell as GOP Senate majority leader.

While Scott acknowledged that his campaign is "a longshot," a number of prominent figures have confirmed their support for him.

Bill Hagerty: Scott will "work hand-in-hand with President Trump"

According to Breitbart, one of them is Tennessee Republican Sen. Bill Hagerty, who laid out his reasoning this weekend via a series of social media posts.

"President Trump's massive coattails delivered a historic Republican Senate majority," the freshman senator pointed out on Saturday.

"As a result of President Trump’s leadership, we saw Republican Senate victories in seats (i.e. PA, OH, MT) that have eluded Republicans for decades," Hagerty noted.

"Any leader of this new majority must be able to work hand-in-hand with President Trump to advance his America First agenda. The Senate must lean into advancing this agenda," he insisted.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. says Trump agenda will be "wobbly" without Scott

"That's why I want to see a Senate Majority Leader who can join me in embracing the Trump agenda, which will unify Senate Republicans. On Wednesday, I will be voting for Rick Scott," Hagerty stressed.

Hagerty is not the only one throwing his weight behind Scott as Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul did too, describing the current budget trajectory as being "unsustainable."

Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson spoke up as well, stating, "President Trump needs Rick Scott as Majority Leader to shepherd his bold agenda through the U.S. Senate!"

Another pro-Scott voice came from former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who wrote, "Without Rick Scott, the entire Trump reform agenda [is] wobbly."

Tucker Carlson tells voters to demand that their senators vote for Scott

Meanwhile, conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson took aim at Scott's rivals, including Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn.

In a social media post of his own, Carlson portrayed Cornyn as being "an angry liberal whose politics are indistinguishable from Liz Cheney's."

"Rick Scott of Florida is the only candidate who agrees with Donald Trump. Call your senator and demand a public endorsement of Rick Scott," he asserted.
