Rules set for Trump/Harris debate, microphones will not be 'hot'

While many knew that the debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden would be a disaster for Biden, nobody could have guessed that it would have sparked a coup that removed Biden from the 2024 election.

Regardless of the hype and headlines generated after that debate, the upcoming debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will undoubtedly be one for the ages.

After Harris' campaign desperately attempted to negotiate the best possible terms for Harris, who's a terrible public speaker to say the least, the two camps agreed on a certain set of rules for the Sept. 10 debate.

The debate will be hosted by ABC News, Politico reported.

What's going on?

Both sides are set to wage war in November at the ballot box, but this Tuesday, they'll meet for their first -- and probably only -- presidential debate at the National Constitution Center, a private nonprofit education center and museum dedicated to the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia.

Trump and Harris have been preparing for the debate, which will follow the same rules as the debate between Trump and Biden.

Perhaps the most notable aspect of the debate is that the two candidates' microphones will be muted after they're done making their point, which will likely mean no interruptions or "hot mic" moments.

The ABC News-hosted debate will reportedly run for 90 minutes with only two commercial breaks.

ABC News deployed "World News Tonight" host David Muir and anchor Linsey Davis to moderate the debate. It could be interesting, as neither have hosted a general election debate between two presidential candidates.

Harris had pushed for the mics to be left on during the debate, as they typically are in presidential debates. But the Biden campaign negotiated to have the mics turned off at the last debate and, ultimately, Harris and Trump agreed to keep it the same this time around.

What could happen?

Vivek Ramaswamy warned this week that if Trump "trounces" Harris at Tuesday's debate, crazy things could unfold as the election near.

Some believe that Biden might even resign in October and give Harris the presidency.
