President Biden rushed out of a White House briefing to go to the Situation Room, sparking concern as the war in Israel brings American troops in harm's way.

Biden's speech was about "Bidenomics," but he ended with a cryptic comment that left many concerned.

"I apologize, I have to go to the Situation Room for another issue I have to deal with," he said.

Biden rushes out

Biden lingered for a few moments to answer a couple of questions about the conflict in Israel.

He emphasized that no cease-fire is on the table until all hostages have been freed. Hamas has only released two Israelis and two Americans.

"We should get the — we should have a ceasefire — not a ceasefire, we should have those hostages released, and then we can talk," Biden said.

A source told Newsweek that Biden left the briefing for "a regularly scheduled briefing on the latest developments in Israel and Gaza."

It's not clear why Biden was in a hurry, but tensions between Israel and the Arab world have led to fears of a wider conflict and harm to U.S. soldiers in the region.

Israel has agreed to a request from Biden to delay a ground invasion of Gaza "so the Pentagon can place air defenses in the region to protect U.S. troops," the Wall Street Journal reported.

Crisis in the Middle East

Biden has rejected calls for a cease-fire as premature and unfair to Israel in the wake of Hamas' brutal terrorist attack on October 7, which killed 1,400 Israelis. Many are still being held hostage.

Meanwhile, Iranian proxies have launched over a dozen attacks on U.S. bases in the region.

The U.S. military has moved 2,000 additional forces on "prepare to deploy" orders as an act of "deterrence."

“No one wants a broader regional conflict,” Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said.

“We are posturing additional forces in the region for two reasons: One, again, to bolster our broader regional deterrence efforts, and, two, to send a clear message that we will protect our forces,” he added.
