Rep. Adam Schiff was censured by a majority of House members on Wednesday evening; as a consequence, he will go down in U.S. history, albeit not in a positive light.

According to conservative counsel Rogan O'Handley, Schiff is one of only two dozen members of Congress to have been censured since the country's foundation, as The Conservative Brief reported.

“Adam Schiff has been officially Censured by Congress,” O’Handley, whose social media handle is “DC Draino,” tweeted Wednesday evening following the vote.

“Only 25 Reps have been censured in US history He will now have to stand in front of Congress while Speaker McCarthy scolds him for his role in aiding & abetting illegal spying on President Trump Humiliating!” he added.

The Resolution

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) initiated the effort to censure Schiff by labeling him a "criminal" for allegedly using his former position as chair of the House Intelligence Committee to unjustly accuse former President Donald Trump of "colluding" with Russia to undermine the 2016 election.

Paulina Luna discussed the House Oversight Committee's ongoing efforts to hold former Schiff accountable for lying about the Trump-Russia investigation without substantial evidence to support claims of alleged collusion during an interview with Fox News earlier this month.

“I will speak to Adam Schiff. Maria, I have a privileged resolution that I’m bringing to the floor, and we are going to fine that man 16 million dollars for using his position to lie to the American people and ultimately push something that not only destroyed our country but ripped us apart.

"I believe, maybe even permanently damaging foreign relations. He is a criminal, and Adam Schiff, you will be held accountable,” Luna said.

“And yet, he was privileged to information that not even I or many of my colleagues would be able to see,” Luna went on to say. “He used that position. He absolutely aided and abetted a corrupt FBI into investigating a sitting president.”

The Fallout of Schiff's Actions

Democrats attempted to shame the Republican majority for their vote, but in reality, Schiff's conduct during the presidency of former President Donald Trump sealed his fate.

In addition, Luna introduced a resolution to expel Schiff from the House of Representatives after Special Counsel John Durham's report revealed he repeatedly misled about "collusion" between the 2016 presidential campaign of former President Donald Trump and Russia.

She added that Schiff repeatedly lied to the nation for years, claiming he had "evidence" of the alleged collusion and initiating unnecessary "investigations" into the allegation.

“Adam Schiff lied to the American people,” Luna said. “He used his position on House Intelligence to push a lie that cost American taxpayers millions of dollars and abused the trust placed in him as Chairman.

“He is a dishonor to the House of Representatives. The Durham Report makes clear that the Russian Collusion was a lie from day one and Schiff knowingly used his position in an attempt to divide our country,” she added.
