Schumer is working 'in the shadows' to undermine Trump: report
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is working "in the shadows" to stop President-Elect Donald Trump.
This is according to a new report from the Daily Mail, titled, Inside Chuck Schumer's stealth operation to block Trump's MAGA revolution.
This is one of several reports that have been published in recent days that have exposed clandestine plans that the Democrats are pursuing to stop Trump.
This all comes just about three weeks before Trump is about to enter the Oval Office.
Here's what is going on:
Schumer's plan has to do with the federal courts. He has been trying, according to the Daily Mail, to "pack America's federal courts with liberal judges."
The unfortunate fact is that Schumer has been succeeding.
The Associated Press recently reported:
President Joe Biden secured the 235th judicial confirmation of his presidency Friday, an accomplishment that exceeds his predecessor's total by one after Democrats put extra emphasis on the federal courts following Donald Trump's far-reaching first term, when he filled three seats on the Supreme Court.
That's right, Biden and the Democrats' very slim majority have managed to put more liberal judges in federal courts than Trump managed to put conservative judges in the courts during his first term.
Here's Schumer's comment on the situation:
'I don't know exactly what he'll do. But I can tell you this: The judiciary will be one of our strongest - if not our strongest - barrier against what he does.
He has a point
This is a bigger deal than you might realize.
Some things that presidents do only have a momentary impact, one that lasts until the next president takes office. Other things that presidents do have an extremely consequential impact that could last decades. Some of these last-second executive actions would fall into the former category, while the appointment of judges would fall into the latter.
How many times have you read a news article that said that an Obama-appointed judge did this, or that a Bush-appointed judge did that, etc. Decades from now, it is likely that we, if fortunate enough to still be alive, will be reading about something that a Biden-appointed judge did.
But, we might not have to wait that long to feel the impact. These judges, as Schumer pointed out, could already start to show their impact by blocking Trump as much as possible in the coming four years.
We'll have to see how all of this plays out, but this was a major win for Biden and the Democrats, and a major loss for Trump and Republicans.
