Recent comments from "Smallville" and "Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider caught the attention of the Secret Service.

According to the Western Journal, said in a social media post that he wants to see President Joe Biden hung.

Biden claimed that Trump "poses many threats to our country"

The controversy began last week when Biden put up a post on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

In it, the president accused Trump of posing "many threats to our country," including "[t]he right to choose, civil rights, voting rights, and America’s standing in the world."

"But the greatest threat he poses is to our democracy," Biden said of his predecessor before adding, "If we lose that, we lose everything."

Schneider said Biden "should be publicly hung"

The Western Journal noted that Schneider made a post of his own which read, "Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung. Your son too. Your response is..? Sincerely, John Schneider."

While Schneider later deleted the post, it became the focus of condemnation from critics. However, other conservatives recalled that some left-wing celebrities have expressed a desire to commit violence against former President Donald Trump.

The New York Post reported that the Secret Service also took notice of what Schneider had said and released a statement on the matter.

"The Secret Service is aware of the comments made by Mr. Schneider, and as a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence," the statement read.

"We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees," the federal law enforcement agency went on to add.

Actor denies threatening Biden's life

For his part, Schneider later insisted in another post that he "absolutely did not call for an act of violence or threaten a U.S. president as many other celebrities have done in the past."

However, the actor complained that "some of our nation's leaders in Washington have lost their way and corruption runs rampant, both on our nation’s borders and abroad."

"Transparency and accountability must happen in order for our constitutional republic to survive. There is no threat implied or otherwise in that statement," he declared.
