Secret Service has opened an investigation into Dukes of Hazzard actor John Schneider after he called for Joe Biden to be publicly hanged.

Schneider made the post hours after he appeared in the season finale of The Masked Singer.

Biden had posted a statement calling Trump a "threat" to the American political system.

"Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung. Your son too. Your response is..? Sincerely, John Schneider," Schneider wrote in response.

Secret Service probe

Schneider deleted the post, and he denies making any threats.

In a statement to Deadline, Schneider said he was vocalizing his opinion that Biden is a corrupt president.

“Despite headlines claiming otherwise, in my post, I absolutely did not call for an act of violence or threaten a U.S. president as many other celebrities have done in the past. I suggest you re-read my actual post and pay attention to the words before believing this nonsense.”

“It’s my position, which I am entitled to have, that some of our nations leaders in Washington have lost their way, and corruption runs rampant, both on our nation’s borders and abroad,” Schneider.

"Transparency and accountability must happen in order for our constitutional republic to survive. There is no threat implied or otherwise in that statement.”

A source inside the Secret Service told Deadline, "We look at all threats against our protectees and, due to intent, this falls under the definition of a threat."

“The Secret Service is aware of the comments made by Mr. Schneider, and as a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence,” spokesman Steven Kopek tells us Friday.

“We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees.”

Rise in threats

The intensely divided political climate has led to a rise in threats toward public officials on both sides of the aisle.

A woman in Chicago was arrested in August for threatening to murder Donald Trump and his son Barron.

That same month, an elderly man in Utah was killed during an FBI raid after he made threats to Biden over Facebook.

Biden was unharmed after a drunk driver crashed into a Secret Service vehicle last week.
