U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) says that she is open to working with Robert Kennedy Jr., should he be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Britt, according to AL.com, indicated as much on Saturday.

This comes as there are doubts about whether or not Kennedy will be confirmed by the Senate.

If the Republicans stick together, then they can use their majority to get him across the lines. But, the big question is whether they will actually stick together. There will be more on this in a moment.

Britt's take

Over the weekend, Britt made her position on Kennedy clear. It appears that she is in favor of his confirmation.

On Saturday, she said:

Every cent of hard-earned taxpayer money should be spent efficiently, judiciously, and accountably — without exception. While the administration works to achieve this goal at NIH, a smart, targeted approach is needed in order to not hinder life-saving, groundbreaking research at high-achieving institutions like those in Alabama.

Britt made these remarks after the National Institutes of Health revealed that it was cutting some of the payments that it has been making to certain research institutions. Kennedy, as the next health secretary, would play a large role in all of this.

Britt went on to say:

We can eliminate administrative bloat and waste while not losing our competitive edge to adversaries like Communist China. I look forward to working with incoming HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to accomplish this vital mission and ensure our nation remains at the forefront of medical innovation, research, and patient care.

But, will Kennedy get over the line?

It is looking likely

It is widely expected now that Kennedy will indeed be confirmed as the next U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services by the U.S. Senate. This is because Kennedy recently made it past the Senate Finance Committee, and if he did that then he should be able to get past the entire Senate.

USA Today reports:

RFK Jr. is one step closer to becoming the nation's top health official after a Feb. 6 vote in the full Senate. Fifty-two senators, all Republicans, voted to advance Kennedy, who is seeking to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Forty-seven senators voted "nay." Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas abstained.

What is particularly interesting is the way that Democrats all opposed Kennedy despite the fact that it was not too long ago that Kennedy himself was a Democrat.

Now, Democrats are trying to scare Americans away from Kennedy. Here is a recent statement released by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY):

Mr. Kennedy is a walking public health crisis waiting to happen. We need to look at Mr. Kennedy’s record: he’s spent years making millions peddling conspiracy theories and outright lies. His nomination should go no further.

Unfortunately for Schumer and the Democrats, Kennedy is about to go further.
