Sen. Graham said Americans should be bothered by Biden-era spying on GOP lawmakers
Under the Biden administration, the FBI was seemingly used for much more than regular federal law enforcement duties, as many believe the agency was politically weaponized against Republicans.
According to JustTheNews, South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said this week that Americans should be bothered by the fact that under former President Joe Biden, the FBI was used to probe his phone records.
However, Graham wasn't the only member of Congress to get probed, as revelations this week showed that under operation "Arctic Frost," the records of nine Republican lawmakers were probed by the FBI at Biden's command.
The operation was described as a precursor to "former Special Counsel Jack Smith's probe into President Donald Trump's alleged actions seeking to challenge 2020 presidential election results."
What's going on?
The FBI reportedly pulled the phone records of nine GOP lawmakers, which included data such as who they were talking to, where the call took place, and the length of the phone call.
During the time of the Biden-led operation, Sen. Graham was the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
"Whether you like me or not, this should bother the heck out of you that the sitting chairman of the Judiciary Committee ... would have their phone records surveilled by the executive branch," the South Carolina senator said on the "Just The News, No Noise" TV show.
He added, "We have constitutional separations of powers. We in Congress certify the election. "
"As the chairman of the committee, I determine whether we should investigate alleged wrongdoing," Graham added. "I was doing my job, and the fact that they would look at who I'm calling and the length of the phone call and where it took place is beyond chilling."
Graham then raised questions as to what could have given the Biden administration the predicate to undergo such an operation.
"What was the predicate for this? What vehicle did they use?" Graham asked. "We're going to get to the bottom of it. And the people who did this need to be fired, and we need to make sure the government pays in a way to deter it in the future."
Social media reaction
Users across social media reacted to Graham's warning and concerns.
