Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) called for 10% of the FBI's staff to be replaced in the wake of recent controversies.

Paul shared the comments during an interview this week on "The Balance" with Eric Bolling on Newsmax.

The comments

The top leadership at the FBI has become a “political class” and reform is “only going to happen if we get a president who gets rid of the top 10% and brings in some law enforcement people," Paul said.

“I think it’s swamp fever, Potomac fever,” he added. “The ones closest to the swamp have become infected with influence and power and politics. I play golf with a retired FBI agent. He’s conservative. Most of the agents that I meet in the field are conservative. They’re typical law enforcement kind of people.”

The difference

Paul also noted the difference in how the FBI and others in the Biden administration treated Trump versus Biden over classified documents.

“it is entirely different the way they treated Trump with a raid all publicized before an election and the way they’re treating with kid loves and a kindler, gentler form of law enforcement for Biden. I think people see through this," Paul said.

"And this is why people are alarmed that we live in a country where there is a possibility that you may be treated differently because of your political beliefs," he added.

It's not the first time Paul has been critical of the FBI. In a December interview with Newsmax, the senator asked, "How many of them are actively working in collusion with the Democrat Party?"

In addition to the recent classified documents scandal involving the president, the FBI has been under scrutiny for a variety of recent concerns ranging from censorship in Big Tech to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

The growing political agenda in the FBI has become a concern for many Americans who see the partisan nature of the agency taking over its intended purpose of investigations.

The latest call by Paul is being welcomed by many conservatives who are also ready to see many leaders at the FBI replaced.
