Sen. Warren calls for Kristi Noem's resignation
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is now calling for the resignation of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem.
This, according to Fox News, comes following the recent incident in which U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) was detained by the Secret Service.
As we will see, Noem and the DHS are vigorously pushing back on the narrative that is being pushed by Warren and others.

Background
The Secret Service recently detained Padilla during a press conference that was being held by Noem about the recent Los Angeles riots.
The Daily Caller reported:
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was conducting a press conference Thursday when Democratic California Sen. Alex Padilla interrupted her. Security then forcibly removed the lawmaker from the room. Security at the conference, which covered the riots wreaking havoc in Los Angeles, can be heard telling the senator to put his hands up. The senator announced himself despite being told to stop and began to remark on the “half a dozen violent criminals that they’re rotating on your, on your.” Before he was able to finish his sentence, security escorted him out of the room.
After being positively identified, Padilla was released from custody, and, afterwards, he and Noem had a brief meeting. Both sides said that the meeting was productive.
The Democrats are now attempting to use this situation to their political benefit.
Warren and many others have come together to condemn the detention of Padilla, and Warren is among those who are calling for Noem to resign over the incident.
Let's get things straight
Warren posted a message on social media, writing:
It’s time for Republican Senators to speak up and support an independent investigation into what happened to Senator Padilla—and it’s time for Kristi Noem to resign.
Noem's DHS has already responded.
Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin put out a statement, saying, "Everything is on camera—Warren is trying to revise history on Senator Padilla’s embarrassing conduct, but Americans can see with their own eyes."
She added:
Senator Padilla entered a high-security federal facility under false pretenses and crashed an invite-only press conference as law enforcement are working around the clock to calm violent riots. There’s no excuse for busting into a press conference and interrupting it. Had Senator Padilla asked for a meeting, Secretary Noem would have happily obliged, which she graciously did for 15 minutes after the press conference.
The facts, though, are not going to stop Warren and other Democrats from trying to use this situation to their advantage.
