Last month, President Donald Trump nominated White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Stephen Miran to a seat on the Federal Reserve Board.

The president had reason to cheer this week when members of the Senate voted to confirm Miran's nomination.

One Republican side with Democrats in voting against Miran

According to Breitbart, Miran was confirmed on Monday by a vote of 48 to 47 which broke down almost entirely along partisan lines.

The sole Republican to side with Democrats in voting against Miran's confirmation was Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who objected to the fact that Miran has only taken a leave of absence from his job at the White House rather than resign from it.

Trump nominated Miran to replace Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler after she abruptly announced her resignation nearly five months before her term was set to expire.

"It has been an honor of a lifetime to serve on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System," CNBC quoted Kugler as saying in a resignation letter she sent to the president.

"I am especially honored to have served during a critical time in achieving our dual mandate of bringing down prices and keeping a strong and resilient labor market," she added.

Trump predicts that Miran "will do an outstanding job"

Breitbart noted that Trump heralded Miran in a Truth Social post, noting that he holds "a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University" and previously "served with distinction in my First Administration."

"He has been with me from the beginning of my Second Term, and his expertise in the World of Economics is unparalleled -- He will do an outstanding job," Trump predicted.

Meanwhile, Breitbart pointed to an unnamed White House source who stated, "There’s no stronger America First candidate for the job than Miran."

The White House figure went on to maintain that Miran "brings the qualifications, credibility, and insight the Fed needs at this transitional time."

Miran has praised Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller

Breitbart also stressed that Miran has expressed agreement with Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller's claim that tariff-related inflation will be transitory in nature.

Miran told Bloomberg that Waller has "done himself a big credit recently as well not succumbing to the tariff derangement syndrome that many others throughout the country, but particularly at the Fed, seem to have succumbed to."

He went on to hail Waller's record, praising the Federal Reserve governor for having "done a really good job having an independent voice."

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
