Senate Republicans mock Chuck Schumer over barbecue selfie

As Chuck Schumer faces pressure from his own Democratic party to step aside, Senate Republicans are not letting him live down an embarrassing moment that he shared with the internet.

The Senate GOP's campaign arm marked "National Hamburger Day" by mocking the Senate minority leader over an infamous photo-op in front of a grill.

In the resurfaced Father's Day post, the New York senator was seen attempting to make a cheeseburger with a raw patty.

Schumer faces mockery

To his credit, Schumer did say in the post that he was barbecuing "for the first time."

"Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbeque with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!" Schumer wrote in his post.

Republicans are drawing fresh attention to the viral moment to highlight a critical weakness of the Democratic party - namely, its fatal disconnect with normal people.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a video taking jabs at Schumer and encouraging people to "join a real party, the Republican Party. We grill right." A little cheesy, perhaps, but they certainly have a point!

Dems lost, aging

Schumer is a perfect example of the effete, urban elites running the Democratic Party. They have completely lost touch with the electorate, and there is no sign they even know what to do about it.

Indeed, the Democratic party is spending $20 million on an academic exercise to understand men better.

"Shouldn't take much to know how to grill a burger or correctly call a pick six, but apparently for Democrats, figuring out how to be a normal American takes at least $20 million — and even that won't be enough," NRSC regional press secretary Nick Puglia claimed in a statement.

This all comes as Democrats - and Schumer especially - face criticism over their aging, failed leadership. The recent death of 75-year-old Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly from cancer has once again drawn attention to the party's failure to recruit fresh blood.

At 74 years old, Schumer is a spring chicken by his party's standards. But age has not made him smarter or wiser, in case you haven't noticed. His recent attempt to blame a fatal boat accident at the Brooklyn Bridge on DOGE cuts was just another reminder of what a dullard he really is.

As President Trump once said, they're not sending their best!
