SNAP benefits released, despite Supreme Court ruling
At least one state has gone ahead and fully funded the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
New York did so, according to the Daily News, despite the recent ruling from the Supreme Court, indicating that President Donald Trump and his administration is not required to make full SNAP payments during the government shutdown.
The Trump administration, in response, has called for states to "immediately undo" the payments. Now, though, it appears that the government shutdown is coming to an end.
BREAKING: Senate just voted to end the democrat filibuster and it passed with over 60 votes. Now the CR moves to be voted on to start process of opening of the government. Once the Senate passes, the CR will move to the house to re-vote where it already passed then Trump to sign.

Benefits go out
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the funding of the SNAP benefits on social media.
She wrote:
While Donald Trump has fought relentlessly to keep food off New Yorkers’ tables, families who rely on SNAP can finally breathe a sigh of relief as benefits begin to arrive. I’ll never stop fighting for New Yorkers or holding Republicans in Washington accountable.
The Daily News reports that New York was one of several states to release the funds.
Per the outlet:
New York is one of several states that released funds for SNAP following a federal court ruling on Thursday. But Trump’s administration appealed the ruling and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson ruled Friday night that the feds don’t need to fully fund the program while waiting for a lower court to issue a judgement.
Now, the Trump administration is calling upon these states to "undo" the payments.
"Immediately undo..."
The Daily Caller reports that Trump asked states to take back the SNAP payments over the weekend.
"The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has ordered states to 'immediately undo' their efforts to send out full food stamp benefits this November," the outlet reports.
The Daily Caller quotes from the memo that was sent out. It, in part, reads, "To the extent states sent full SNAP payment files for November 2025, this was unauthorized. Accordingly, States must immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025."
According to the outlet, the memo also states that "states must only issue partial benefits, and risk financial consequences if they do not comply with the demands."
It remains to be seen how this all will play out, especially now that the government has been reopened. We expect more developments in the matter soon.
