First Lady Melania Trump has made it abundantly clear that she's not interested in serving in her husband's administration like she did the first time around, choosing instead to place family first and ensure the safety and privacy of the ones she loves most.

Some, according to reports, believe that Second Lady Usha Vance could step in and take on some of the roles that the first lady might have otherwise assumed.

Usha Vance, wife of Vice President J.D. Vance, made headlines last week over her visit to Greenland -- a country President Donald Trump and his administration aim to have join up with the United States in some capacity.

According to the reports, some experts believe Melania Trump stepping out of the limelight has created a type of "soft power" vacuum that Usha Vance could ultimately fill.

What's going on?

Melania Trump hasn't hid her absences from both the campaign trail and life in the White House during her husband's second term, making it clear to reporters and MAGA supporters that she'd rather focus on what matter most, which above all, is family.

The liberal media has attempted to use her family first mission as a hostile attack, though such narratives continue to fall flat.

Lisa M Burns, a reported expert on first ladies and what their typical roles are in an administration, believes Usha Vance is ready and willing to fill any vacancy caused by Melania Trump taking a few steps back from the public spotlight, focusing on Usha's most recent trip to Greenland.

"What’s interesting is that this is something you might expect a first lady to do," Burns told The Telegraph.

"Historically, we know that Melania Trump is not as active as a first lady. She’s a bit more reluctant," Burns said, adding, "She definitely picks and chooses when she does things, so we’re seeing the second lady step into this role."

Burns believes Usha Vance's trip to Greenland, accompanied by her husband, was her first test in the political arena -- at least on such a high-profile stage.

"This is the first thing we’re seeing from her in terms of whether she’s going to be a more active participant in the administration," Burns said.

Successful trip

Vice President J.D. Vance posted an update regarding the trip to Greenland with his wife, calling it a "successful trip."

MAGA supporters also hold Usha Vance in high regard, and it'll be interesting to see what she does during her time in the White House.
