Wrestling fans were horrified after wrestler  Stuart "Syko Stu" Smith was brutally attacked last month by the son of mixed martial arts star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

The case took another turn late last week when ESPN reported that Raja Jackson was arrested on felony assault charges.

Video shows Jackson continuing to beat Smith after he was unconscious

According to the network, Jackson was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Thursday morning and held on $50,000 bail.

The incident took place at an event hosted by the KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy and occurred after Smith struck Jackson with a soda can in what the promotion claims was a prearranged stunt.

Viral video footage of the attack showed Jackson slamming an unconscious Smith to the ground and then proceeding to pummel his unconscious body.

Wrestling promotion denounces "egregious" and "reprehensible" actions

"What was supposed to be a planned and agreed-upon wrestling spot turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith. This egregious act is reprehensible and never should have occurred," the KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy asserted in a Facebook post.

"In the 17 years of operation of KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, there has never been anything as heinous take place such as this and we apologize to our patrons and fans," it added.

ESPN noted how Smith had to be hospitalized following the attack and detailed the extent of his injuries in an Instagram post after being released nearly a week later.

He described having a "serious head injury" along with "trauma to both the upper and lower jaws" which "resulted in the loss of several teeth."

Andrew Smith is Smith's brother, and he put up a Facebook post shortly after the attack which stated that his sibling was "in stable but in critical care."

"Rampage" Jackson says he son "should do a little [jail] time"

Meanwhile, ESPN observed that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson recently acknowledged that his son should face legal ramifications.

The elder Jackson's comments came during an interview he gave earlier this month to Ariel Helwani, who hosts "The Ariel Helwani Show."

"I think he should do a little [jail] time," Jacksons stated. "Do a little community service, and go to anger management class, get some therapy."

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
