The South Korean entertainment industry was beyond stunned to learn of the death of a young, talented superstar who was hailed as one of the best in the business at the current time

According to reports, South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was reportedly found dead at her Seoul-based home over the weekend. She was only 24, according to authorities.

Her body was reportedly discovered at her home by a friend sometime in the later afternoon hours.

An investigation into her untimely death is underway, according to authorities. They have already ruled out any break-ins, according to reports.

What's going on?

"We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances of the death," South Korean police said in the wake of launching the investigation into her death.

The young star, born in 2000, made her debut as a successful child actor in 2009, eventually rising to stardom from her role in the 2010 film "The Man from Nowhere."

In 2012, her profile was boosted even higher with her role in the 2012 thriller "The Neighbor." Her last acting work was in 2023 for a Netflix drama series called "Bloodhounds."

Her rising stardom took a steep hit in May 2022 after she was involved in a drunk driving incident. A court fined her 20 million won ($13,850) in April 2023, causing a reputational scar that reportedly forced her into hiding.

The New York Post reported:

She was fined $20 million won, or $13,850 US — and the crash caused enough public humiliation to drive her out of the limelight, including by stepping down from her role in the drama series “Trolley,” the outlet said.

She reportedly attempted to return to her once-successful acting career last year, but reportedly dropped back out, citing unspecified health concerns.

The Post added:

She won numerous awards throughout her career and was honored as “Best New Actress” at several Korean arts awards ceremonies, according to her IMDB page.

Social media reacts

Some on social media blamed South Korean authorities for contributing to the end of her career and possibly life, as DUI charges are reportedly used to humiliate those charged with such crimes.

"So very young to leave this world. Rest in Peace," an X user wrote.
