The election of transgender Delaware Democratic Rep. Sarah McBride earlier this month has raised questions on Capitol Hill, including which bathroom the biologically male politician should use.

Yet as The Epoch Times reported, House Speaker Mike Johnson ended that speculation this week by declaring that women's bathrooms are for females only.

Johnson: "Women deserve women's only spaces"

"All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings—such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms—are reserved for individuals of that biological sex," Johnson asserted in a statement.

"It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol ... Women deserve women's only spaces," he stressed.

The Times noted how Johnson's pronouncement came on Wednesday following a push by South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, who said that she would introduce a bill segregating House bathrooms by biological sex.

That came one day after the South Carolina lawmaker struck a defiant tone during a Tuesday interview with NewsNation's "On Balance."

Mace: "You will not bully me into submission"

Mace explained that she had been subjected to violent threats over her stand on the issue but insisted that she would not be deterred.

"They are threatening to kill me over this. Men that want to use women’s restrooms are threatening to kill me over this issue," Mace said according to The Hill.

"I was the first woman to graduate from The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina, and if we haven’t met yet, I want all the bullies online to know you will not bully me into submission," she declared.

Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that Johnson's ruling brought an emotional reaction from New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

AOC suggests that Republican want to "inspect" female members of Congress

"If a woman doesn’t look woman enough to Republicans, they want to be able to inspect her genitals to use the bathroom. It's disgusting," Ocasio-Cortez was quoted as telling reporters.

Those remarks brought mockery from critics, including British podcast host Konstantin Kisin, who said that "her argument is moronic."

"Every member of Congress has their own bathroom and the building has plenty of gender neutral bathrooms," Kisin pointed out before adding, "Her opposition to this has nothing to do with women and everything to do with the woke mind virus. "
