Speculation intensifies over Elon Musk's black eye
The speculation about how exactly Elon Musk got a black eye has intensified.
The Daily Mail reports that Musk's "trusted companion" has even cast doubt on the alleged source of the injury.
The "trusted companion" is Grok, Musk's AI system.
First, we'll take a look at what we know about the situation.
The official narrative
In case you missed it, President Donald Trump and Elon Musk held an Oval Office press conference last week on Musk's last day as a special government employee. That is when reporters noticed that Musk had a black eye. Take a look:

It's not the worst black eye you have probably ever seen, but there is clear bruising around his right eye.
Musk, during the press briefing, addressed the issue head-on. He claimed that he got the black eye from his five-year-old son, saying, "We were horsing around and I told him to punch me in the face. Turns out a five-year-old can punch, actually. I didn't really feel much at the time."
Suffice it to say that not everyone is buying this explanation. But, the question is, if it was not the result of "horsing around" with his son, then what caused it?
Cause for doubt?
In addition to many humans, Grok, which Musk has described as "truth-seeking" AI software, has raised doubts about the official explanation for the black eye given by Musk.
When asked whether or not Musk's explanation was true, Grok responded, "It is possible, but unlikely." It added, "It's rare without unusual circumstances, like the adult being particularly vulnerable."
Then the AI was asked what could have made Musk "particularly vulnerable," to which it suggested underlying medical conditions, fragile skin, or alcohol or drugs. Musk has recently been accused by the New York Times of having a drug problem, a claim which he has vehemently denied.
Grok claimed that it is unlikely that the child caused this injury because "a child's smaller fist and weaker muscles make it harder to deliver enough force consistently." it added, "Factors like angle, surprise or an adult's pain tolerance also matter. If a kid lands a lucky shot say, with a toy or knuckle, damage is more plausible."
For now, we do not have any alternative explanation to the one provided by Musk. Musk, for his part, is clearly focused on more important things.
