Authorities say that drugs killed a man who is believed to have leaked an unflattering audio recording of controversial Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

According to KPRC-TV, that was the conclusion laid out in a report that Hill County Chief Forensic Pathologist Satish Chundruthe released this week.

Multiple drugs found in Brooks' system

The report states that 36-year-old Jerome Brooks went to a hotel located just outside of Austin and met with a man he had previously spoken with online.

"There, he was observed to drink ethanol and take pills described as 'ecstasy,'" Chundruthe wrote, adding that emergency service personnel were summoned after he clutched his chest and began to slump over.

The forensic pathologist explained that CPR and Naloxone were administered by paramedics in an attempt to revive him but their efforts proved unsuccessful.

Michael Lamb is a forensic toxicologist with NMS Labs, and he noted that Brook's blood contained alcohol, MDMA, methamphetamine, along with a drug which is similar to Viagra.

Jackson Lee heard cursing at staff members

Meanwhile, the Western Journal noted that Brooks' death came just days after he is believed to have leaked an audio clip of Jackson Lee berating him and another man while she was running to become mayor of Houston.

Lee's outburst was reportedly triggered by a paper about Ovide Duncantell, a political activist who founded the Black Heritage Society and died in 2018 at the age of 82.

"I don't want you to do a goddamn thing. I want you to have a f--king brain," the Democratic congresswoman could be heard yelling at the men.

Mayoral opponent drew attention to Jackson Lee's behavior

"I want you to have read it. I want you to say 'Congresswoman, with such and such date.' That's what I want. That's the kind of staff that I want to have," Jackson Lee continued.

"So some stupid other motherf--ker did it. And, and I don't have the information," the Texas lawmaker added as her rant went on.

"Nobody sent me the information. I need to ensure my schedule and, uh, you know, if Boo Boo did it, s--tass did it, f--kface did it. And nobody knows a goddamn thing in my office! Okay? Nothing! I gave it to you," Lee raged.

Jackson Lee went on to be defeated by fellow Democrat John Whitmire, who drew attention to the lawmaker's behavior.
