Sunny Hostin of 'The View' forced to read legal note on-air after ranting about Matt Gaetz

The leftwing media has been in nothing short of a total meltdown since President-elect Donald Trump's massive victory earlier this month, and it's only gotten worse over the past week as Trump announced who will helm his top Cabinet positions.

According to the New York Post, Sunny Hostin of "The View" was humiliated this week after she ranted and seethed over Trump selecting former Rep. Matt Gaetz as his AG. It was so bad that she was forced to read a note, presumably handed down from lawyers at ABC News who weren't thrilled with her commentary.

The legal note was handed to her by co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who immediately cut to commercial after Hostin was forced to read the note on air to clarify the situation.

The humiliated Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, was clearly unhappy with having to read the note, and video of the moment has already gone viral.

What happened?

Hostin trafficked in anti-Gaetz conspiracy theories, unchecked until the legal note arrived, claiming he had sexual relations with a 17-year-old female and was actively engaged in sex trafficking.

Her commentary was so off the mark and defaming that ABC brass clearly had to step in and intervene before the network and show fell deeper into the liability hole.

"How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking or trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?" Hostin asked viewers of the daytime show.

Hostin added, "My understanding, further on in the interview, they discuss the fact that once he finds out that she’s 17, he stops having sex with her."

Just a few minutes passed before Goldberg informed Hostin that she had a legal note to read on-air after her rant.

The Post noted:

“Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations,” she intoned, “calling the claims ‘invented’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that, ‘This false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism.’

“That DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought."

Social media reaction

Users across social media blasted Hostin and "The View" after a clip of Hostin reading the required legal note went viral.

"You could visibly see her swallowing her pride," Collin Rugg wrote on X.

Another X user wrote, "The fact that ABC Legal put the hammer down on Sunny so quickly tells me that 1) they know she went too far; and 2) they feel the need to monitor that show because those women are reckless with their cavalier allegations and assumptions."
