According to The New York Times, former First Lady Melania Trump received a six-figure payout from one of her husband's super PACs.

In an article published this past Thursday, the paper cited a filing made last week by former President Donald Trump which showed that his wife received the money in December of 2021.

$155, 000 paid to management agency

The funds came from Make America Great Again, Again PAC which made payments of $125,000 and $30,000 "Designer’s Management Agency," a company of which Mrs. Trump is a client.

While Trump listed the money as being payment for a "speaking engagement," the PAC said it was an "event planning and consulting" fee.

The Times noted that Make America Great Again, Again shut down in 2022, with its resources being transferred to the newly created Make America Great Again Inc. PAC.

Charles Gantt previously served as treasurer for Make America Great Again, Again, and he told the Times that the organization had "complied with all applicable reporting obligations."

Former first lady accused of grifting

News of the payments to Mrs. Trump sparked criticism online, including from conservative commentator Ann Coulter, who sarcastically tweeted, "Not a grift at all."

The revelations were also seized upon by Donald Trump's opponents in the Republican presidential primary race, such as former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

"This is yet another example of the outrageous behavior of Donald Trump. Political leaders should not enrich themselves, but rather seek to enrich everyday Americans," Hutchinson tweeted.

Former New Jersey governor: "Trump is shameless"

"It's time for us to move past Trump and invest in a new leader for our future," the former Arkansas governor went on to insist.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie spoke up as well, saying, "A billionaire using donor money to pay personal legal fees, and now paying his wife more than 2x what the average American makes just to pick some tableware. There's grifting and then there's Trump grifting. Undisputed champs."
