Supreme Court agrees to hear significant free speech case
The justices of the U.S. Supreme Court have agreed to hear what could end up being a significant First Amendment case.
Fox News reports that the justices "granted a faith-based pregnancy center's request to review its case against the New Jersey attorney general" on Monday.
Take a look:
🚨 BREAKING: SCOTUS will hear ADF’s case on behalf of First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, targeted by NJ’s AG for their pro-life beliefs.
Pregnancy centers offer free care, counseling, and support to women, yet pro-abortion officials want to shut them down.

Background
The case comes from the First Choice Women's Resource Centers, which Fox News describes as "a Christian nonprofit that provides services to women facing unplanned pregnancies."
The outlet goes on to explain how "The nonprofit was subpoenaed by New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, who sought records over allegations the pregnancy center might be misleading women about offering abortion services."
To clarify, it appears that the center is likely offering women such things as counseling and care, but not necessarily abortions.
New Jersey is run by Democrats, who are almost always pro-abortion, and it would seem that the Democratic attorney general may not be happy with the fact that the center is not just giving out abortions. This is likely the reason why the attorney general has brought a subpoena against the center.
The center has been attempting to fight this subpoena off.
Here's what the Supreme Court will consider:
Fox reports, "The Christian-based center challenged the subpoena in federal court, asserting it infringed upon its First Amendment rights by potentially chilling its free speech."
According to Fox, the Supreme Court, though, is going to decide a procedural matter, namely, "whether New Jersey's investigatory demand must first be adjudicated in state court."
Alliance Defending Freedom is representing the center in the case.
It has put out a statement, saying:
New Jersey’s attorney general is targeting First Choice—a ministry that provides parenting classes, free ultrasounds, baby clothes, and more to its community—simply because of its pro-life views. The Constitution protects First Choice and its donors from unjustified demands to disclose their identities, and First Choice is entitled to vindicate those rights in federal court. The First Amendment protects First Choice’s right to freely speak about its beliefs, exercise its faith, associate with like-minded individuals and organizations, and continue to provide its free services in a caring and compassionate environment to people facing unplanned pregnancies. The lower courts have wrongly held that First Choice is relegated to state court to present its constitutional claims. We are looking forward to presenting our case to the Supreme Court and urging it to hold that First Choice has the same right to federal court as any other civil rights plaintiff.
It is unclear when the justices will hear the case.
