Suspects arrested after allegedly planting explosive device underneath local Fox News van
A local Fox News affiliate in Salt Lake City, Utah had quite a scare over the past week after one of their news vans was nearly blown up by an explosive device planted underneath it.
According to the Daily Mail, two suspects, Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, were taken into custody over the weekend, according to a probable cause statement obtained and reviewed by Fox13.
Bomb squads with the Salt Lake City Police Department and the Unified Fire Authority responded to the report of a possible explosive device under the van.
Authorities concluded it was an incendiary device that was lit, but failed to detonate, with officials noting that it "failed to function."
What's going on?
Local, state and federal authorities, including the FBI, were granted a warrant to search the home that one of the suspects owned, where they found several anti-Trump items, including a sign that said, "is he dead yet?"
A spokesperson for Fox13 confirmed the scary incident to the Daily Mail.
"We can confirm that local and federal authorities are investigating an incendiary device found under a FOX 13 News vehicle on Friday, and that two men have been arrested in connection to this incident," the spokesperson said.
They added, "We are working closely with law enforcement and our risk management team, with the safety of our employees our top priority. We do not have information from law enforcement about motive."
"Given this is an ongoing investigation, this is the information we have available to share at this time. We thank local and federal law enforcement for their swift efforts and ongoing investigation."
